MEET OUR TEAM
Niki Breau Kavanagh has been a champion of peer support for many years as Wings of Change Peer Support's Regional Coordinator for Eastern Canada and Quebec and has been the facilitator for Miramichi meetings since 2017. She stepped into the role of National Coordinator in 2020 and strives to spread awareness in creating a stigma free environment for all first responders.
Before joining Wings of Change Peer Support, Niki was a Correctional Officer and front line Crisis Intervention Worker. She continues to be active in volunteering with organizations/groups pertaining to mental illness/wellness and suicide prevention.
Niki enjoys staying active while enjoying every minute with her children, husband and pets.
Regional Coordinator - Western Canada and Northern Ontario
Katherine joined the Wings of Change family in 2017 as a facilitator for the Mississauga Chapter and quickly stepped into the role of National Coordinator. She supported this role until April of 2020 and is now the Regional Coordinator for Western Canada and Northern Ontario. She has a professional background in the fields of nursing and paramedicine and has been a long standing advocate for first responder mental health. With the support of the team, Katherine has been able to grow Wings of Change into a thriving national peer support network with more than 25 chapters nation wide. .
Regional Coordinator - Southeastern Ontario
Robin is the Southeastern Ontario Regional Coordinator for Wings of Change Peer Support and has been a meeting facilitator in Ottawa since 2017.
Robin has served her community for 19 years as an Advanced Care Paramedic in both Toronto and Ottawa. She joined the Wings of Change family in February of 2017 when she opened the Ottawa chapter location.
Wings of Change has become an integral part of her life and she strives to share the positive benefits of peer support with all front-line professionals who are on their
journey back to wellness.
Regional Coordinator - Central Ontario South
Bruce began his career in paramedicine in 1985 with the Peel-York District Ambulance Service. For the past 19 years, Bruce has held his A-EMCA while being employed as a communications officer for the provincial air ambulance system.
Bruce is a strong advocate of first responder mental health and serves as a peer support facilitator for Ornge and Wings of Change.
Regional Coordinator - Central Ontario North
Chris worked as a Paramedic in Muskoka from 2001-2014 before being diagnosed with PTSD. Chris began regularly attending WOC meetings as part of his recovery journey, and was welcomed into the role of a facilitator in 2018. Chris has been facilitating meetings in Barrie, Orillia, Bracebridge and recently Parry Sound. Through Wings of Change, Chris has been able to connect with fellow first responders and Military Members to gather and share resources to facilitate healing
from a life of trauma.
Regional Coordinator - Southwestern Ontario
Angela is a mother and a Registered Practical Nurse. She has been working in the profession for nine years. Angela has been a mental health and suicide prevention advocate for several years and she is currently pursuing a certificate in Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing.
By sharing her own story, she hopes to help reduce the stigma associated with living with a mental illness not only in her profession but in society as a whole. Angela joined Wings of Change in 2019 as a facilitator for the St. Thomas Chapter.
